The @XRPLF has added @FlareNetworks ($FLR) to its recommended validator list for the XRP Ledger (XRPL). The foundation removed @AnodosFinance from the same list at the operator's request, as the team winds down its XRPL validator.
According to crypto.news, the foundation said Flare participates in XRPL governance and contributes to the wider ecosystem. The outlet reported that the foundation's list contains 35 validator keys, and that Ripple's separately published list carries the same 35 keys, including the entry tied to Flare's validator domain.
What the Validator List Does
A unique node list (UNL) is a server's list of validators that it trusts not to collude, according to the XRPL technical documentation. Every XRP Ledger server is configured with a UNL, which determines which validation votes it listens to and which it discards during consensus.
To make it easier to build a diverse and reliable list, the network uses recommended validator lists. A server can download a list from a publisher and use it as its UNL, per the same documentation. Being on the list therefore gives a validator greater influence over how new ledgers are confirmed. It is not a protocol requirement, and operators can choose other publishers or validators.
Flare's nomination, filed on the foundation's public GitHub repository, set out its case. It said its blockchain hosts FXRP, which it describes as the largest non-custodial wrapped version of the XRP token, and that it is developing smart accounts to let XRPL wallets control interactions on other chains. It also said its validator is actively voting on and reviewing proposals, according to the XRPLF pull request.
Anodos Finance Steps Away From XRPL
The foundation's removal request notes that Anodos Finance is sunsetting its validator and asked to be taken off the published list. The foundation thanked the team for its contribution and for running the validator, according to the removal pull request.
The exit follows a broader change of direction at Anodos. Blockzeit reported that the company, which describes itself as a financial super app and onchain neobank, announced it would wind down all its XRPL products by October 31 as it moves to Solana (SOL). Those products include its Anodos Validator, ANODEX and Anodos Wallet.
Flare's addition is not the first time the network has been linked to the list. In 2024, the foundation removed ftso.eu, described as Flare's infrastructure provider, after it chose to focus on Flare and leave its XRPL validator role open, according to TradingView News.
