TectonicFi loses $74 million in August's biggest hit
The Tectonic.cro lending protocol exploit accounted for approximately $74 million of August's total loss, more than 54% of all the month's losses.
It ranks as the fourth-largest crypto theft of 2026 year-to-date, behind the Drift, KelpDAO/LayerZero, and Coldcard exploits, according to PeckShield.
The attacker managed to bridge approximately $6 million to Ethereum before Cronos, the blockchain underlying Tectonic, paused the entire chain, freezing the remaining stolen funds.
The exploiter has since begun laundering the funds, bridging approximately $200,000 to Bitcoin at the time of PeckShield's report.
