Three exchanges with a MiCA licence list Pepe against the euro: Bitvavo, Kraken and Bitpanda. Of the eight exchanges in our price comparison, four trade a euro pair in total. For 100 euros on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at 12:14 pm the order book at Bitvavo gave 22.53 million PEPE, and Kraken 22.50 million. The large number of units easily hides what actually matters: the price is almost the same at both exchanges, the fee is not. It ranges from 15 cents as a maker at Bitvavo to 1.49 euros for an instant buy at Bitpanda.
Pepe was quoted at 0.000004435 euros at that moment, the equivalent of $0.000004934, and with a market capitalisation of 1.84 billion euros it is number 41 at CoinMarketCap. Over 30 days the price gained 17.5 percent, over the past week 8.1 percent. Pepe is a meme coin with no technical function beyond trading; its price follows the mood of the scene, which we track in our meme coin section. Whether a purchase at this price makes sense is examined in the analysis Is PEPE a good buy at the current price?, and the arguments for and against are collected in Is PEPE still worth buying in 2026? This piece is about the exchange, the buying route and the costs.
Buying Pepe in the EU: these exchanges list PEPE against the euro
Which exchange offers a euro pair for Pepe is something we measured against the public market listings. On October 27, 2026 there were four, among them the three named above. Since July 1, 2026 the crypto regulation MiCA has applied without a transition period; the licensed crypto service providers are kept by ESMA in a register, which held 387 entries as of October 27, 2026. Listed there are:
- Bitvavo B.V., licensed by the Dutch regulator AFM on June 26, 2025.
- Payward Europe Solutions Limited, the company behind Kraken, licensed by the Central Bank of Ireland on June 25, 2025.
- Bitpanda GmbH, licensed by the Austrian regulator FMA on April 9, 2025.
The register is public via the MiCA section at ESMA. Which licensed exchanges exist for other coins and how they differ is shown in our comparison of the best crypto exchanges.
22.5 million PEPE for 100 euros: the order books side by side
We queried the order books at Bitvavo and Kraken in the same minute and calculated how much PEPE a purchase of 100 euros yields at the respective best ask, before fees:
Exchange
Bid
Ask

PEPE for 100 euros
Bitvavo

Kraken

€0.0000044440

Bitvavo delivered just under 32,000 PEPE more, the equivalent of 14 cents. The spread, the distance between the best bid and the best offer, came to 4 cents on 100 euros at Bitvavo and 9 cents at Kraken. Despite the tiny unit price, Pepe trades readily: across all venues, $593 million changed hands within 24 hours. Even larger amounts barely move the price. In the same order books a purchase of 1,000 euros cost on average 0.002 percent more than the best ask at Bitvavo, while at Kraken it went through entirely at the best ask. At 5,000 euros it was 0.026 and 0.024 percent, around 1.29 and 1.18 euros.
The unit price itself says nothing about whether a coin is cheap. According to CoinMarketCap there are 413.77 trillion PEPE in circulation, and that is where the low price comes from. What matters for a comparison with other coins is the market capitalisation, that is, price times quantity.

For 100 euros on October 28 there were around 22.5 million PEPE.
What the buying route costs with Pepe
In the order book you buy as a taker when you accept an existing offer, or as a maker when your limit order waits in the book. With an instant buy you accept a displayed price, and the spread is baked into it. For PEPE these published rates applied on October 27:
Exchange and route
Fee
On 100 euros
Bitvavo, order book (tier A)
0.25 % taker, 0.15 % maker
€0.25 or €0.15
Kraken, order book
0.80 % taker, 0.40 % maker
€0.80 or €0.40
Kraken, instant buy
1 %
€1.00
Bitpanda, instant buy
1.49 %
€1.49
The Kraken rates are in its fee schedule, and the Bitpanda rate for crypto assets other than Bitcoin is in its cost information document, version 3.0.0 of February 2, 2026. After fees, 100 euros leave 22.48 million PEPE at Bitvavo as a taker and 22.32 million in Kraken's order book. Anyone buying regularly feels the difference: twelve purchases of 100 euros each cost three euros in fees a year as a taker at Bitvavo, and 17.88 euros with an instant buy at Bitpanda.
PEPE is an Ethereum token: the withdrawal costs just under a euro
Pepe was issued in April 2023 as a token following the Ethereum ERC-20 standard. It has no blockchain of its own, every transfer runs over Ethereum and incurs a network fee there. Bitvavo therefore pays PEPE out only over the Ethereum network and charges 220,000 PEPE for it, around 98 cents at midday on Wednesday. The smallest withdrawal is 230,000 PEPE, around one euro.
Measured against the purchase amount, that is the largest cost item for small sums: on a purchase of 50 euros the withdrawal accounts for almost two percent, on 500 euros around 0.2 percent. The receiving address is an Ethereum address beginning with 0x; any wallet that supports ERC-20 tokens can hold PEPE. Which devices are suited to custody over longer periods is shown in our hardware wallet comparison.

PEPE is withdrawn over the Ethereum network, at Bitvavo for 220,000 PEPE.
Minimum order for Pepe: 1.1 million units at Kraken
In the PEPE/EUR pair Kraken requires at least 1.1 million PEPE, around 4.88 euros at the time of measurement. Bitvavo sets the limit at 5 euros in value. So the large unit counts are no obstacle with Pepe; a few euros are enough to take part.
Meme coins and risk: what sets Pepe apart from Bitcoin
There is no company behind Pepe, no network with a task of its own and no yield. The price follows from supply and demand alone, and those depend heavily on the mood on social networks. Daily moves of ten percent and more occur regularly with meme coins, in both directions. The only sensible amount is therefore one whose loss you can absorb. A purchase of Pepe is not comparable to an investment in Bitcoin or Ethereum, which have a use of their own as networks.
Tax on Pepe: one year of holding, then tax-free
If you sell PEPE at a profit within a year of buying, that is a private disposal transaction under section 23 of the German Income Tax Act. If the total of all such gains in the calendar year stays below 1,000 euros, it is tax-free; from 1,000 euros the entire gain is taxed. After more than a year of holding, the sale is tax-free. Losses within the year can be offset against gains from private disposal transactions.
A draft bill from the German Federal Ministry of Finance dated September 30, 2026 would abolish the one-year period for purchases made from January 1, 2027. The cabinet had not adopted it as of October 27, 2026. We follow the state of the procedure in our report on the reform of the crypto holding period; your own calculation is handled by the CryptoTicker tax calculator. That does not replace tax advice.
Buying Pepe in three steps
- Pick a licensed exchange. Bitvavo and Kraken offer an order book, Bitpanda the instant buy. Opening an account requires an identity check under anti-money-laundering law.
- Deposit euros and buy as a maker. A limit order just above the bid cuts the fee to the exchange's lowest rate.
- Settle the custody question. Leave the coins on the exchange, or withdraw several purchases together over the Ethereum network into your own wallet, at Bitvavo for 220,000 PEPE.
How many PEPE 1,000 euros buy at each exchange, after all fees, is in the price comparison directly below this text.
