Cardano chain has reached a fresh $ADA transaction milestone, crossing 122.7 million transactions on mainnet. That number sits at the center of Cardano ADA news today. The network has also kept 100% uptime for more than eight years since its 2017 launch.
The chain's education account Cardanians_io shared this Cardano ADA transaction count on mainnet. The post credits the eUTxO model for the network's efficiency.
eUTxO model is an upgraded version of the UTXO system Bitcoin uses. Under this design, a wallet's funds sit inside separate output boxes, and one transaction can spend several boxes at the same time. That setup lets a single ADA transaction send funds to many recipients and trigger multiple smart contract actions together, instead of needing a separate transaction for each action.
A visual example, built on the eUTxO.org explorer, also showed how one such transaction can spread funds across a large number of outputs in a single block.
The blockchain launched in 2017 under Charles Hoskinson, a co-founder of Ethereum. Since then, the chain has recorded no major outage, a rare streak among large proof-of-stake networks.
The $ADA ecosystem is expanding past the main chain too. Midnight, a privacy-focused ADA partnerchain, has now logged over 120,000 transactions on its own mainnet, based on data from Midnight Explorer.
Midnight went live in March this year with federated validators on board, including Google Cloud and MoneyGram. The Midnight token, called NIGHT, supports fees and network activity here. This early transaction count marks another step for the wider Cardano partnerchain strategy.
Cardano price today slightly up, where $ADA trading at $0.164, over the past 24 hours, and market cap sits at $6.01B. Daily trading volume stands at $286.55M, a drop of 17.91%. Fully diluted valuation is listed at $7.34B. Total supply stands at 44.99B $ADA against a max supply of 45B $ADA.

Alongside this price picture, whale wallets keep adding to their $ADA holdings. Analyst Lark Davis flagged that whale wallets now hold 25.1 billion $ADA. It is the highest concentration on record since July 2020, even as price sits 70% below prior levels and network activity stays weak.
Large holders controlling a bigger slice of supply can point to confidence from bigger players, or it can mean fewer daily users are driving real transaction demand, raising a fair question about chain centralization risk.
Ethereum still leads in total value locked and developer activity, backed by a much larger market cap than Cardano. Solana wins on raw speed and consumer-facing apps like high-frequency trading and memecoins.
The Cardano blockchain keeps its edge through deterministic eUTxO design, an unbroken uptime record, and peer-reviewed research behind Ouroboros consensus. The chain targets regulated finance, identity tools, and tokenization through Midnight rather than chasing short-term volume.
The Van Rossem hard fork in July 2026 already delivered Cardano's first fully on-chain governed upgrade, cutting Plutus contract costs and setting groundwork for the Dijkstra era. Ouroboros Leios, aimed at 30 to 50 times current throughput, remains in testing.
Charles Hoskinson recently weighed in on $ADA's direction, calling for unity across the network's messaging. "I'm asking for your support. I promise you if you give it to me, and if I have enough of it, I will end this cynicism, and we'll speak with one voice," he said, pointing to stronger marketing and adoption as the payoff.
Between transaction growth, Midnight's expansion, and governance under Voltaire, $ADA's next phase depends on turning research into daily use. The 122.7 million transaction count shows technical staying power. Whether adoption catches up with that stability will shape the next chapter for ADA holders and builders alike.
